Beverly N. Huntley, beloved Mother, Grandmother (Grammie) and Sister, made her final journey home on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. She was surrounded by her family as she went to be with her Lord and Savior. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry E. Huntley; and parents, Fred Crago and Bernice Crago (Runion). She is survived by her son, Richard Huntley of Miami; daughter, Karen Griffith (David); grandkids, Brandon Griffith (Sarah), Aaron Griffith (Brittany) of Tallahassee, Amanda Winter (Ryan) of Tennessee and Natalie Griffith of Tallahassee; and her two precious great granddaughters, Savannah and Summer Griffith of Tallahassee. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Bozell of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Sam Crago; and Fred Crago of Huntington, Indiana along with several nieces and nephews.
She was born and raised in Huntington, Indiana where she met her husband and later moved to Tallahassee where she remained. Growing up Beverly loved to go with her sister to the movies, roller skating and enjoyed watching her siblings - often going with them to the store for candy, ice cream and comic books. She enjoyed sewing, working in the yard, collecting dolls, listening to music but her greatest memories are the times shared with her family and friends. Bev taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved her grandkids and making pancakes, cheese grills taking them swimming and on trips. She loved to recount rescuing the boys from a neighborhood pond after they got stuck in the middle with a wheel barrel while searching for frogs, lizards and turtles. She enjoyed making her special cookies with the girls and making them matching dresses and watching them play dress up in all the fun things that she had collected for them in the dress up trunk.
Special appreciation is extended to The Alzheimer’s Disease Project, TMH Adult Day Care loving staff, Big Bend Transportation staff, Walter and “Preacher” Frank and an excellent team from Big Bend Hospice which had such an impact on Beverly’s last two months and also that of our family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made Big Bend Hospice or a charity of your choice.
