Bettye graduated from Sopchoppy High School and Florida State University with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in education. She married her childhood sweetheart, Tommy Edwin Roberts, Sr., and lived her life among many friends and family in Tallahassee, Florida. She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Dorothy Roberts, her sisters Frances Roberts and Jessie McMillan, and brothers Ausley Carraway, Jr., Ott Carraway, and Bradham Carraway.
Bettye is survived by her daughters, Linda Champion, Cheryl Rowland (Brian), her son, Tommy Edwin Roberts, Jr. (Janie), and son-in-law, Douglas Bruce. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jamie Champion Mongiovi (Joseph), Morgan Champion Dickinson (Christian), Thomas Roberts (Sarah), Jonathan Roberts, Lawson Roberts (Shelby), Marshall Roberts, Will Bruce (Jennifer), Rachel Bruce Cummons (Brian); 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sandra Crum, Carolyn Suiter (Galen), Susan Limbaugh (Gary); two brothers, George Carraway (Jill), David Carraway (Charlie); and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The foundation of Bettye’s life was her faith, her family, and her friends.
A visitation of family and friends will be held from 4:30-6:00 p.m., December 3, 2024, at Culley’s Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., December 4, 2024, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1700 N. Meridian Road, with burial at West Sopchoppy Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or the Sopchoppy United Methodist Church at 10 Faith Avenue, Sopchoppy, Florida.
