Betty King was an alumnus of the Music School at Florida State University, played piano, and most of all, loved taking great care of others. She also had a heart for missions and making sure that missionaries, telling of the love of Christ, were supported and prayed for. She loved teaching young people to care about missions, to pray, to memorize scripture and to love others around the world and at home. She served as the State Acteen Director for the Florida Baptists, of the Southern Baptist Convention and in Girls in Action and Acteens at First Baptist Church for many years. As a true “Tallahassee Lassie,” she loved her hometown very much. She read the Tallahassee Democrat daily and shared the history of much of North Florida with others. She lent her talent for organization and care as an Administrative Assistant for years in her father’s accounting business, with her mother’s Real Estate Brokerage, and then with the State of Florida.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Wayne King, her mother, Ruby Williams, her Father J.T. Williams Sr., her brother, J.T. Williams Jr. of Stockbridge, GA, and her sister Jewell Menge of Panama City, FL.
She is survived by her aunt, Bonnie Mattson, of Tallahassee, FL, sister, Miriam Rainwater, of Calhoun, GA, her three daughters, Libby McCullough, of Covington, GA, Heather Baxter and Rene Nowlin of Tallahassee, sons-in law Alan McCullough, of Covington, GA, Wade Nowlin, of Tallahassee, FL, grandsons Shawn and Connor McCullough, of Covington, GA, and granddaughter and grandson, Dianna Baxter of Tallahassee, and Douglas Baxter of Crawfordville, FL, along with Kaylin Baxter, wife of Douglas Baxter, and many other cousins and dear friends.
