Bart was born February 28, 1947, in Pittsburgh, PA, where he grew up with his sister Candy and close cousins. He graduated from California University of Pennsylvania, during which time he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served a tour in Vietnam as a tank commander. Most of Bart’s professional life was spent in the insurance industry where he had a 35+ year career, giving him the opportunity to meet and connect with so many people. He never met a stranger. Every person to Bart was just a friend he hadn’t met yet.
Bart loved his family, who meant the world to him. He had a passion for coaching baseball and soccer, not only for his son and grandsons, but for many of Tallahassee’s youth, Men’s Bible Study and serving as church usher, and last but maybe not least, his Seminoles!
He is survived by his wife, best friend and partner, Connie MacFarlane; sister, Candy Bulebush (Joe); son, Darren MacFarlane, and stepdaughters, Jodi Downs (Chris) and Holli Fulmer (Dan); seven grandsons, Samuel and Indiana MacFarlane, Conner, Seth and Aidan Downs, and Liam and August Fulmer; a niece, nephew, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Neil MacFarlane, and mother, Mary Flick Smith.
John 11:25-26 “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”
