Barbara J Bowering, 85, of Tallahassee passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday morning (10/2) at her home. She was born on December 14, 1932, in McLaurin, Mississippi and grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. She worked for the State of Mississippi until she retired. She moved to Tallahassee 31 years ago, with her daughter and then went to work on a second career with Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration. Family was her focus, and she enjoyed sitting quietly on the back porch watching birds and enjoying nature and flowers. She was affiliated with Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents: Floy & A.M. Fillingane; son, Mark and his wife, Joyce; sisters: Kathleen Root, Ann Montgomery; and brother: Doyle Fillingane.
Survivors include her daughter: Candy (Gary) Landry of Tallahassee; step-son: Butch (Tina) of Jackson, MS; granddaughters: Lauren Landry, Jessica, Angelina; sister: Diane (Kendall) Puckett of Atlanta; and many nieces and nephews.
