Ava "Piggy" Latonya Jenkins earned her wings on July 30, 2019 and transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home while in the specialized care of the Big Bend Hospice House, located in Tallahassee Florida.
Ava was born at Columbus AFB in Mississippi and grew up in various states across the United States, which allowed her to experience many memorable adventures with her family. These experiences shaped her into the strong, fun, intelligent, and kind woman that she was known to be. She was amazed by the facts of science and history and always tried to use her knowledge to help educate others. She used her talent to achieve her life-long goals by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, becoming a mother to a beautiful daughter, working as a teacher in the Georgia public school system, and also working at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ava enjoyed reading and listening to mystery and suspense genre books, eating Thai food, watching movies with her daughter, and traveling while she was able. Her favorite place to relax was the beach. She accomplished many goals during her life while dealing with various illnesses and disabilities. Ava dealt with issues such as losing her sight, hearing, and ability to walk, but she refused to let her conditions discourage her. She always battled the odds placed against her and transitioned calmly.
