Audrey Tiller Alcorn, 97, of Tallahassee passed away Sunday morning August 26, 2012 at Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida.
Audrey was born February 12, 1915, in Noma, Florida, and resided in Panama City, Florida, during her youth. After living in several different states in the Southeast, she and her husband, Robert H. “Pop” Alcorn, settled in Chattahoochee, Florida, in 1947, where they raised five children. Audrey and her husband moved to Tallahassee in 1974. Audrey was devoted to her family and always took an active interest in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed the beautiful Panhandle beaches of North Florida where she grew up and her interests included a love for fishing on the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Seminole. She also liked gardening and was a member of the Chattahoochee Garden Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chattahoochee for over fifty years.
Audrey is survived by her five children: Nancy Humphrey (Dick, deceased), Tallahassee, FL; Charlotte Stephens, Elberton, GA; Robert Alcorn (Faye), Chattahoochee, FL; John Alcorn (Wanda), Tallahassee, FL; and, Debra Fowle (Buddy), Newnan, GA; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and one great- great- grandchild.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert H. Alcorn.
A family memorial service to celebrate Audrey’s life and spirit is planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Chattahoochee, Florida.
Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Florida.
