Veronica Joyce Greybull Kirkendall was born on January 7th, 1967 in Wisconsin, the daughter of Harlan and Eleanor Joyce (Smith) Graybull. She grew up in a household with one brother and one sister, Tim and April. The family relocated to the Tahlequah are and it was here that she graduated from school. She met and married the love of her life, Michael Kirkendall, and together they raised a family of one daughter and one son. She earned her living as a cook at the Irving elementary School in Muskogee, OK, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved being around the kids and watching their smiling faces. She enjoyed her days of in the great outdoors, camping, floating the river. Attending Pow Wow’s taking her children shopping and curling up to watch something good, like “Little House On The Prairie”, “Animal House”, Full House and Road House, just to name a few. Her all-time favorite was going out to eat, she did it often, Golden Corral, Super China Buffet, Pizza by Manooch, My Place BBQ, and El Zarape were some of her favorite places. Time spent with family and friends were always some of her favorite memories. The time spent with her granddaughter, creating tee shirts, making sculptures during summer school with the kids, any activity would work just fine! A Christian by faith, she was a member of the Tahlequah Baptist Church. You could tell by her sweet smile and loving, kind attitude, she loved everyone around her. The Lord called this hard working and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend home from her many labors on January 25th, 2023 in Tahlequah, OK. She was 56 years old and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor, her father, Harlan Greybull, her beloved husband, Michael Kirkendall, and several cousins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Amber Thomason and husband Troy of the home in Tahlequah, and her son, Darren Kirkendall also of the home in Tahlequah. She leaves her step father, Alvin Howell of Tahlequah. She is survived by her brother and sister, Tim Grey bull of Tulsa, OK, and one sister, April Smith of Tulsa, OK. She lives on in her granddaughter, Olivia Thomason of the home, as well as her aunts and uncles, Arlis and Christina Collins, Blair Greybull and Joe Smith, as well as many nieces, nephews cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
Funeral services for Veronica Joyce Greybull-Kirkendall will be held on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 at Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Golia Begley officiating. Her family will receive visitors on Wednesday, February 1st, 2023 beginning at 1:00PM until 5:00PM also at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Echota Cemetery in Stilwell, OK. Pallbearers include Darren Kirkendall, Chase Childers, Jeff Garrett, Blair Greybull and Golia Begley.
