Troy “Wayne” Spencer was born July 23, 1936 in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma to John Thomas Spencer and Leona (Hubbard) Spencer and passed from this life Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at 85 years of age. He was surrounded by family and left this earthly world knowing he was so loved.
Wayne was a graduate of Hulbert High School and soon after joined and served our country in the United States Army. Several years after the service, he married and moved to Las Vegas, NV where he raised his family. After 30+ years working as an Operating Engineer, he retired to pursue his dream of owning and operating his own ranch in Oklahoma.
Wayne was an avid hunter, fisherman and cowboy through and through. Teaching his daughters to ride by 3 years age and continued to support them into formal competition. He loved rodeos, not only competing as a young man but a becoming a dedicated National Finals fan for many years. His love for the outdoors was passed on, teaching his daughters to fish at a young age and later expanding into hunting. He was a hardworking man and passed these values onto his family. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved them dearly. He felt very blessed earning the nickname “Big Pa” from his first great-granddaughter.
Wayne loved his family and his many relatives and extended families. He would jump at any chance to spend time with them, especially if a meal was involved. He enjoyed many dominos and 5 Up games with his brother Allen and sister Eyvone and John Barnes as well as others.
Preceding Wayne in death were his parents, John and Leona, his sister Edna, and his brothers Bill, Lesley, and Raymon. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his two loving daughters, Shelly Spencer and Sharon (Spencer) and Jerry Drew; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Melissa and Jeff; three great-granddaughters Ainsley, Aubrey (Reece) and Baylee; and many other family members, friends and loved ones.
Wayne will always be known for his huge heart, orneriness, wonderfully stories and mostly, his love of family.
Funeral services for Troy Wayne Spencer will be held on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 at 11:00 am at Reed-Culver Chapel with Mr. Curtis Spencer officiating. He will be laid to rest at Eureka Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK. Serving as pallbearer for Troy include Jonathan Walling, Jeffrey Lucas, Jerry Drew, Adam Luszczyk, Curtis Spencer and Chris Spencer. His honorary pallbearers will be John Barnes, Allen Spencer Les Spencer Jr. and Steve Spencer. His family will receive guests on Friday, January 21st, 2022 beginning at 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
