Sue Ella Barnoskie- Osage was born on January 24th, 1954 in Bunch, OK, the daughter of Louis and Bettye (Pettit) Barnoskie. She grew up in a large and loving household of nine brothers and sisters, Jimmy, Rosie Lee, Sue Ella was third in line, Terrill, Nancy, John, Dwight, Stoney, Troy Dean, and Phillip. She graduated from high school and then began her studies, graduating with her master’s degree in administrative studies and served as an Administrative Assistant at W.W. Hastings Hospital. She dedicated over 30 years of service to Cherokee Nation. She was often referred to as “mother” by her beloved facility management team. She loved people and went out of her way to lighten everyone’s workload. The sound of laughter was a joy to her and she always had time to make you smile. She was understanding with the skill to listen well when people spoke. When she wasn’t working, her family was first and foremost. The church in Locust Grove played a very important part in her life as well as her husband Johnny Osage, who served as an Associate Pastor for years. She had a servant’s heart, sewed quilts, made pillowcases, attended gospel singing, and volunteered anytime volunteers were needed. Sue made the best beans and fry bread with boiled potatoes ever! Her grandkids were her pride and joy and she never missed any Sequoyah sporting events or T-ball games “Moses” was in. She lived life to the fullest and made every day the best she could. The love of her life, Johnny, passed from this life in 2021 and she kept close to her family, enjoying all the special memories. The Lord called this wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandmother and servant home from her earthly labors on October 10th, 2022 in Tulsa with those she loved close by her side. Her journey lasted 68 years and her presence will be greatly missed.
She has gone home to join her grandparents, Conseen Barnoskie and wife Tarnie, and Wolf Pettit and wife Nancy Thrower-Pettit; her mother and father, Louis and Bettye; two brothers, Troy and Jimmy; a sister Rosie Lee; and one grandson, Caleb.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters and one son, Tracy Roberts and husband James of Virginia, Anthony Bread of Broken Arrow, Julia Bread of Tahlequah, and Gabrielle Bread of Locust Grove, Oklahoma. She leaves her sister and brothers to honor her memory, Nancy Swimmer and husband Jeff of Vian, OK; Terrill Barnoskie and wife Vesta of Tahlequah, OK; John Barnoskie and wife Erin of Boliver, MO; Dwight Barnoskie and wife Shalee of Tulsa, OK; Stoney Barnoskie and wife Michelle of Tahlequah, OK; and Phillip Barnoskie and wife Shonda of Claremore, OK.
