Stephanie Gail (Deckard) Hopkins was born on October 27th, 1981 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Frankie Doyle Deckard Sr. and Jackie Sue (Cullen) Deckard. She has two brothers, Frankie Doyle Deckard Jr. and Bradley Hollowell and two sisters, Melanie Sue (Deckard) Suber, and Mandee Fawn Hammer, and 2 special sisters Mandy Adair and Ommie Faye. After getting her GED, she obtained an accounting certification, and she was currently attending college at Arkansas State University, to earn a bachelors degree in business and accounting. Stephanie married Dusty Lee Shirrel, and they had two sons, Dusty Lee Shirrell Jr. and Nathan Doyle Shirrell. Stephanie was a loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend, and her family was always first and foremost. Stephanie loved big family get togethers, cookouts, camping, swimming in the creek, and bonfires, she loved watching football, the Kansas City Chiefs were her favorite team, and she would cuss like a sailor when it didn’t go her way. Stephanie could captivate a room full of people with her laughter and smile, it was so warm and inviting. Stephanie loved to cook and her Lasagna was the best, and her biscuits and gravy were amazing. Stephanie was Christian by faith, and she had rededicated her life to the Lord. She went out of her way to show her love by caring for those less fortunate, It didn’t matter if she knew you or not, she never met a stranger. Stephanie definitely knew what compassion was. There was always music in the home, whether it country or old time rock n roll, she loved to listen. Stephanie had a very large family and they were all loved very much. Stephanie passed from this life on October 22nd, 2022 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the age of 40 years, 11 months and 22 days, and she will never be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her father Frankie Doyle Deckard Sr., her ex-husband, Dusty Shirrel Sr., her grandparents, Bluie Carol “Bobbie”Deckard and Frankie Ralph Deckard, and James Cullen Sr. and Mabel June “Guy” Cullen Swafford, two aunts, Paula “Susie” Washington and June Gonzalez, one uncle, Hank Washington, one nephew, Landon Hollowell and one cousin, Ruben Gonzalez.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her sons, Dusty Lee Shirrel Jr. and fiancé Heather Hendrickson of Tahlequah and Nathan Doyle Shirrel of Tahlequah. She also leaves behind her mother, Jackie “Cullen-Deckard” Hollowell and husband Glenn Hollowell of Bentonville, AR, her brothers, Frankie Deckard Jr. of Bentonville, AR and Bradley Hollowell and wife Misty of Azle,TX, her sisters, Melanie Sue “Deckard” Suber and husband Robert of Springdale, AR, and Mandee Fawn Hammer Oklahoma City, OK, and special sisters Mandy Adair and Ommie Faye both of Tahlequah. Her nieces and nephews include Brandon, Madison, Miles, and Memphis Suber, Jericho, Jagger and Jax Hollowell, her uncles, Tony Deckard and Billy Odell Deckard of Dallas, TX, Jimmy Cullen and wife Tronda of Mulberry, AR, Guy Cullen and wife Kelli of Bella Vista AR, Alwyn Cullen, and companion Rose of Licking, MO, David Ward and wife Tia of Logansport, IN, David Ward and wife Deborah of Chickamauga, GA, and Patrick Cullen and wife Mabel of Springfield, MO, and her aunt, Sheila Blossom and husband Bobby of Welling, OK. And cousins, Roy Teany, Marshal Washington, Carol Buttery, Marsha Washington, Darla Vanbuskirk, Shelby Blossom Ferguson, Joshua, David, and Arlene Gonzalez, Ashlynn “Cullen” Snider, Ashley, Stephanie and Michael Cullen, Desirae “Ward” Fowler, Daniel and Douglas Cullen, Emma, Hannah, and Joel Ward, Charles Cullen, Melissa Marshall, and a host of other loved ones too numerous to mention. Stephanie will be missed.
Funeral Services for Stephanie Gail (Deckard) Hopkins will be held on Friday, October 28th, 2022 at 2:00 Pm at Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Billy Odell Deckard officiating. Her family will receive visitors on Thursday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel.
