Sammie Henson was born on July 11th, 1946 in Tahlequah, OK., the son of Major and Susie (Osage) Henson. Sammie grew up and lived in this area all of his life. Sammie loved to hunt with his dogs and play music. It was said that there was not a string instrument that Sammie couldn’t play and he enjoyed many hours playing music with his family and friends especially the times spent playing gospel music.
Sammie is preceded in death by his parents, His Grandfather Richard Henson, his brothers: Paul, Charles, Cecil, and Chester Henson, His sisters Sarah and Beulah Henson and a son, Darell Ray Henson.
He is survived by his sons Kevin Henson and wife Teresa of Wagoner, OK., Bryan Henson of Hulbert, OK., JJ Henson and his wife Tanya of Hulbert, brothers Houston Henson of Coweta and Jimmy Carey of Lost City, OK., a sister Ada Cheeter of Lost City, OK., his extended family Donny Quinn and wife Iva of Muskogee, OK., Randy Quinn and wife Becky of Fayetteville, AR., Billy Quinn and wife Sandy of Stillwell, OK., Vonteba Hudson of Westville, OK., his companion Novia Guinn of Westville, OK., and a special uncle Mose Henson of Lost City, OK. His legacy lives on in his 6 grandchildren, and one great grandson as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
