Roy W. Cline was born on May 31st, 1957 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Fred Walter and Evangeline Lilly (Patrick) Cline. He and his brother, Theodore grew up in the Tahlequah area as well as Enid, Oklahoma for a short time. He had a passion for classic cars and knew how to build and keep them running. Roy married his best friend and the love of his life, Vicki Lynn Buck, on November 8th, 1978, in Park Hill. Together, they raised two boys, Christopher and Douglas, and had over 44 years of cherished memories. One of their favorite pastimes was spent fishing or taking his family out on the lake. Roy enjoyed working with his hands, and took great pride in his skills to become a welder and mechanic for Tahlequah Public Works Authority for over 28 years. When he wasn’t working, which was seldom, he loved going out on the four wheelers and motorcycles with his grandkids, and spending the day with the people he adored. Give him a metal detector and he would reward you with some really unusual treasure. He knew how to search out a bargain at a car auction and sold guns and collected guns as an amateur dealer. There was nothing better than an evening spent in good company playing Blackjack or Texas Holdem, he liked gambling. He was a man of simple pleasures, the view from his own front porch, cold Dr. Pepper in hand, and his wife, children and grandchildren close at hand. He had many more plans, but his time on earth drew to a close. Roy passed from this life on May 13th, 2023 at Tahlequah, with the ones he loved close to his side. He was 65 years old and will be greatly missed.
Those that have gone on before include his grandparents, his parents, and one brother, Theodore Cline.
He will be remembered by his loving wife, Vicki Lynn Cline of the home and two sons, Christopher Roy Cline and wife Sharon of Tahlequah and Douglas Andrew Cline of Park Hill. His legacy lives on through his five grandchildren, Malan Cline and husband Sebastian Derrick, Hayden Moles, Jack Cline, John Cline, and Nicholas Cline, all of Tahlequah, as well as many other friends and loved ones.
Memorial services for Roy W. Cline will be held on Friday, May 19th, 2023 at 2:00pm at Carter Baptist Church in Park Hill with Pastor Matt Lawrence officiating. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.reedculver.com for the Cline family.
