With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Roger Lee Grigsby, a devoted family man, outdoors enthusiast, and accomplished engineer, who left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone he touched.
Born on October 14, 1947, in a loving home surrounded by the rolling hills and vast plains of Salina, Kansas, Roger was the cherished son of Harold and Wilma (Owens) Grigsby. He grew up in this picturesque Kansas town, graduating from Salina High School, and later pursued his passion for engineering at the University of Pittsburgh in Kansas. After completing his education, Roger embarked on a successful career as an engineer, applying his skills and knowledge to make a lasting impact in his field.
His professional accomplishments were a testament to his dedication, perseverance, and innovative spirit.
Roger was blessed with a loving partnership that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. On September 26, 1987, he married his love, Fran Gribsby, in a picturesque lakeside wedding at Three Fingers Cove at Lake Tenkiller. The ceremony was a beautiful blend of love, nature, and celebration, as friends and family gathered to witness the union of the couple. In a heartfelt gesture, their friends at the marina tied two pontoons together, creating a stunning floating ceremony space. Fran was lovingly escorted down the deck of the boat by a close friend, in a moment that will be etched in the memories of all who attended.
Roger's passions were many and varied. He loved boating, fishing, lake time, travel, birdwatching, archery, and hunting. He also enjoyed tinkering around the house, grilling, woodworking, and working on stunning stained-glass projects. Additionally, Roger was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast, loyal to the Kansas City Chiefs and the OU Sooners. His love for animals was evident in the way he cared for his own pets and the joy he found in watching wildlife. Roger’s kindness, generosity, and warm spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. His life was a testament to his love for adventure, his passion for living, and his unwavering commitment to his family and friends. But above all, Roger cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. He found immense joy in sharing laughter, stories, and adventures with his family and friends, and they brought him comfort, support, and happiness throughout his life.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Wilma Grigsby; and his sister, Barbara Cormack. Those left to cherish his memory include his three daughters, Cristin Crutchfield and husband Chris, of Overland Park, Kansas, Kimberly Grigsby of Salina, Kansas, and Susan Fioravanti of Austin, Texas; his two sons, Dennis Fioravanti of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, and Patrick Fioravanti and his wife, Nie of Farmington, Arkansas; his brother, Alan Grigsby and his wife Genny of Salina Kansas; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of friends, relatives, nieces, and nephews too numerous to mention.
As we say goodbye to this extraordinary man, we take comfort in the memories we shared with him, the lessons we learned from him, and the love we will continue to carry in our hearts. Rest in peace, Roger. Your love, kindness, and adventurous spirit will never be forgotten.
Roger will be laid to rest in Our Hearts Forever.
