Roger Bird was born July 1st, 1960 in Tahlequah, OK to JB and Betty Webster Bird. Growing up in Chewey, OK, he enjoyed swimming, hunting arrowheads, and floating and fishing in the river. He attended Skelly School and Sequoyah High School, becoming quite the ladies’ man. He enjoyed working on his vehicles, making them car show ready. His favorite pastime was listening to music from country to rock. If you needed a stereo put in your car, he was the first one they’d call. He enjoyed visiting the Potter’s House, God’s Closet, and flea market and yard sales. He never met a stranger. He was as ornery to one as he was the next, sure to not leave anybody out. He had a heart of gold and shared all he had with anyone and everyone. He enjoyed the company of his girls, boys, and grandkids, always giving them a hard time and teasing them, but they were sure to know Grandpa loved them.
He grew quite lonely and sad when his boys passed. A Baptist by faith, he went home to the Lord and those that were awaiting his arrival – grandparents Sam and Eula Webster, Bill and Polly Bird, his mother and father JB and Betty Bird, his wife Delaine Bird, his sons Brian and Ryan Bird, and a niece, Courtney Bird.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Stormie Bird and husband Frankie Pritchett of Tahlequah, OK, Makayla Price of Wainwright, OK, he leaves behind his brothers and sisters: Linda McCully and husband Edwin of Tahlequah, Deidra Bird of Kansas, OK, Rodney Bird and wife Dana of Stilwell, OK, Ronald Bird of Oaks, OK, Annie Snell of Arkansas, Patty Bird of West Siloam Springs, and Pamela Bird and husband Jose Tarin of Chewey, OK, and Ronald Bird of Oaks, OK. He leaves 11 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones, too numerous to mention.
