Robert Bruce Sarnie was born on Christmas Day, December 25th, 1962, in Braggs, Oklahoma, the son of Billy and Flo-Rita Sarnie. He grew up in the home with two brothers, Travis and Roger. Robert forged lasting bonds with his siblings. Growing up, Robert’s family had a church on their property where everyone would gather Sundays for services and take turns delivering the Word of God. Raised in Braggs, Oklahoma he carried the values of his upbringing throughout his life, embodying resilience and warmth. Once out of school, he worked as a land surveyor and traveled all over the state of Florida and some of the United States surveying. Robert particularly loved this job in Florida. When the work was done, he was home to spend time with his wife, Dawn Evelyn Thompson Sarnie and their daughter, Aiyanna Shakota Sarnie and enjoying life to its fullest. He married Dawn on October 6th, 2006, in Benton, Arkansas, and the next 18 years were spent making memories and laughing and enjoying life. He enjoyed taking his daughter Aiyanna to Chucky Cheese when she was little, watching TV and WWE and John Cena, fishing exploits, and silly dancing together. He loved his stepchildren and always enjoyed any chance to visit with them, Ashley, Jasmine, Deane and Jose. He played the harmonica and was a huge fan of AC/DC and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Whenever there was a band in the downtown area, you could bet that Robert would be called up to sing, he had an exceptional voice. He liked shooting pool and the constant company of his canine companions. He liked looking for a bargain car, buying it, tinkering with it until it was worse and then letting it go, but at least the urge to improve the car was there. In the tapestry of Robert’s life one thread gleamed brighter than all others, the love and joy he possessed for his beloved wife Dawn and dear daughter Aiyanna. His health started failing him, and there were days when the sun didn’t shine as bright as he had hoped. Yet Robert kept trying, despite all the dreams he had yet to fulfill, the Lord called this wise and wonderful man home from his many labors on November 17th, 2024, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, surrounded by those who knew and loved him. He was 61 years old and leaves a chair that cannot be filled.
He joins his grandparents, his mother and father, one brother, Travis Sarnie, and his daughter Robbie Ann Sarnie.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of the home Dawn Evelyn Sarnie and their daughter Aiyanna Shakota Sarnie. He also leaves one brother Roger Sarnie; his adored stepchildren Jose Benitez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ashley Oosahwee of Idabel, Oklahoma, Jasmine Benitez and wife Britny of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Deane Lewis and husband Steven of Centerton, Arkansas, and a nephew Camryn Sarnie. His legacy lives on in his thirteen grandchildren and his great grandchild as well as his many nieces, nephews’ cousins and a host of friends and loved ones whose lives are richer for Robert being in them. Rest in Peace.
Robert will be laid to rest Forever in Our Hearts.
