Robert Kirk

Proctor, OK- Funeral services for Robert L. Kirk , age 70, will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Pastor Benny Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at Pumpkin Center Cemetery in Proctor.

Pallbearers for Robert will be the Tahlequah fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be his beloved grandsons, Teddy Kupsick, Robert Kupsick, Justin Kirk, Ryan Kirk, D.J. Kirk. Dustin Sparks, Russell Kirk Jr., Dalton Kirk, Hunter Kirk, Reid Kirk, Jimmy Kirk, Keagan Kirk,Jeremy Kerns, and Mason Daniels.

Robert Lee Kirk was born on March 18th 1940 the son of Earl William and Minnie Lucille (Youngblood) Kirk in Tahlequah, OK. He grew up in the Proctor area with his three brothers. On November 2, 1961, he married the love of his life, Marie Eden in Liberal, KS. This union was blessed with three daughters and four sons. Robert worked hard in the pipelines as a diesel mechanic. When he wasn’t working, there was nothing better for Robert to return home to his constant companion Marie and their children. He would work out in the yard cultivating flower gardens or fixing fence or just watching the variety of birds and animals that visited from day to day. He really enjoyed traveling or spending some quiet time watching a good western or the Atlanta Braves play ball. Robert was strong, yet there was a deep love for his family and especially his adored grandchildren. He loved to tease and talk for hours to his grandchildren. Neighbors knew that Robert would be by to visit or lend a hand when needed. He was a honest man who valued the truth and hard work ethic, and he passed this to his children and their children in return. Even after his health failed and left him unable to work as he would have liked, he did the best he could daily to help those around him. As long as his wife Marie was by his side and he had his family, Robert was content. A Baptist by faith, Robert liked to hear his family read the Bible to him. The Lord called Robert home on February 21, 2011 in Tahlequah, OK, with his loved ones by his side.

Robert has been preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Marie in December 2010 and recently his son, Raymond as well as two brothers, Junior and Darrell Kirk.

His memory will be cherished by his six children, Gayla and Ted Kupsick of Proctor, Sherry Tounzen and husband Dale of Sallisaw, OK, Rolita Kirk of Proctor, OK, Russell Kirk of Proctor, OK, Monty Kirk of Tahlequah and Danny Kirk and wife Anita of Ft. Gibson, OK. He has one brother, Kenneth Kirk and wife Rufina of Tahlequah, OK. His legacy lives on in his twenty eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones.
