Robert was born on March 30, 1944 to Herve and Rose Marie (Maurice) Ferland in Claremont New Hampshire. He had eight brothers and three sisters. When he was younger he enjoyed helping his father and the rest of his family. After Robert graduated from St. Mary’s high school in 1962. He went and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard with his brother Norman. They served on the same vessel. Robert served as a basic store keeper and fire fighter from July 31, 1962 until his honorable discharge on June 1, 1966. Robert began his civilian life in the clothing industry. He married Regina Rzeczycki and they had one son together on October 6, 1969 in Claremont, New Hampshire, Robert and Regina divorced in 1973. Robert then met the love of his life Bertha Brown they were married May 10, 1975. He began his next career as an Inventory Control Engineer at Strum-Ruger Manufacturing in New Pointe New Hampshire. He worked there for 25 years. The year of 1998 he moved to Oklahoma to be with his son, Chris and granddaughter Aurora. There he went back into the clothing industry and worked for several years. He then moved on to Yates Auto Mall and worked in parts for 12 years and retired.
His son, Chris, married Cindy there he gained 3 more grandchildren. He was very proud of his family. They were his favorite people. He enjoyed hanging out at the lake with them every summer. He loved the water. Robert was quite the gardener and handyman. He could fix just about anything. He also love to cook. He enjoyed making Polish meat pies and the best turkey and dressing from scratch every Thanksgiving. He also was an expert shopper. He never let a bargain go. Robert was usually in the company of his two Chihuahuas, Tommy and Boomer. And there was always a little time to watch TV especially DIY shows which he studied closely. He also enjoyed going out for an hour or two to senior citizens in Tahlequah. Robert knew where he stood on any issue and had no problem letting you know. He was a man of simple pleasure and enjoyed his family & he was especially proud to be a great grandpa of 10 great grandkids.
Robert is survived by his sister Mary Ferland. His son, Chris and his wife Cindy. His grandchildren, Aurora, her husband, Charlie, and their three children, Tillisha, her husband, Ryan, and their 2 children, Shanna, and her three children and Anthony, his wife, Katie, and their 2 children. Many nieces and nephews, And his Chihuahua Boomer.
Robert predeceased by his wife, Bertha Brown, his ex-wife, Regina Laushance, great-grandson, Levi Parker, his mother, father, eight brothers and two sisters, then his little dog Tommy.
There will be a memorial service Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 2:30 pm in Reed-Culver Funeral Home's Chapel.
Robert will be laid to rest in Fort Gibson National Cemetery, 1423 Cemetery Road, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
