Hulbert, OK- Patrick Smith Jr. of Hulbert, OK passed away on March 10, 2012 at his home he was 73 years old. Services for Patrick will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday March 14, 2012 at the Reed Culver Funeral Home Chapel, in Tahlequah, OK, with interment at 12:00 PM in Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Memorial Contribution may be made to Swimmer Baptist Church Building Fund, Hope Hospice of Tahlequah and Local Chapter of American Cancer Society.
Patrick Smith Jr. was born on August 24, 1938 in Muskogee, OK. The son of Patrick and Mina (Gourd) Smith. Patrick was a member of the armed forces making a career in the Army as an Orthotic Specialist creating prosthetics for soldiers injured in battle, and Patrick was also a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. A Baptist by faith Patrick was a member of the Swimmer Baptist Church and served as one of the trustees. He loved to bowl, fish, hunt, and was an accomplished artist with his bead work. Patrick also loved to dance and participated in American Indian Traditional Dancing. He also enjoyed the times spent playing his guitar and singing gospel music with his church family. Patrick also taught the Cherokee language in Sunday school at Swimmer Baptist Church. Patrick will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Patrick is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jencie Smith, a daughter Shanda Ann Smith, a step son Steven Valerio, and a brother Hastings Shade.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Patricia of the home, his sons Michael Smith of San Antonio, TX. And Fred Smith and his wife Stephanie of San Antonio, TX, Two step daughters Consuelo Stokes and her husband Dan of Rosharan, TX., and Victoria Valerio of Fort Worth, TX, 13 Grandchildren, and 5 Great Grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces nephews cousins and loved ones.
