Mitchell Wayne Rooks, or Mitch to his family and friends, was born on October 25, 1951 in Tahlequah, OK, to Ray A. and Eula Louise (Bolding) Rooks. He grew up with two brothers, Kenneth and Tony Rooks and two sisters, Darlene Kester and Shenna Louise Rooks. After graduating from Tahlequah High School in 1969, he began his studies at Northeastern State University, earning his Bachelors Degree in Education. Mitchell retired from Crockett State School Juvenile Correctional Facility after a successful career as an English Instructor and Librarian, to return home to care for his mother. Mitchell enjoyed meeting others and his generosity to those in need was unmatched. He truly lived life to the fullest and enjoyed simple pleasures such as visiting with friends and family, shopping, travel, dining, fine arts, theatre, singing along to the Beatles, and keeping up with the latest celebrity gossip. Mitchell passed peacefully from this life July 16, 2021 after attaining sixty-nine years of memories and leaving many imprints on the hearts of everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.
His memory will live on forever in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, Robin Coiner, Andrea Rooks, Jammie Kester, Brandon Rooks, Ryan Kester, and Toni-Michelle Rooks, his great-nieces and nephews, Nigel Turner, Kaley Coiner, Bailey Kester, Zachary Rooks, Shenna Rooks, Kaden Rooks, Cletha Rooks, Malisha Rooks, Jaxon Kester, and Jansyn Kester, as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, very special friends Lollie Com, Connie Minton, Artist Poole, plus a host of students and other loved ones.
