Michael David Christie was born on September 10th, 1960, in Sallisaw, OK, the son of Charles “Coonie” Christie and Mildred Jessica (Turner) Christie. He is survived by his daughter Rachel Howard and her husband, Billy of Rocky Mountain, OK , and one granddaughter, Elliotte of Rocky Mountain, and his four-footed companions, Minnie, Gypsey, Belle, Dutch, Flick and Zipper of the home. He also leaves five siblings, Charles “Chooch” Christie and wife Sue of Sallisaw, Jerry Christie and wife Pam of Park Hill, OK, Diane Christie-Longshore and husband Mickey of Stilwell, Kevin Christie and wife Rita of Stilwell, OK, and Mark Christie and wife Tricia of Stilwell. He loved his fourteen nieces and nephews. But as much as he loved them, he cherished their twenty children even more.
He wasn’t always easy to love, but he loved hard. He wanted to help people and make them happy. He lived two lifetimes full of adventure in his 60 years on this earth. He loved hunting, fishing and being near the water. He took pride in his landscaping, he loved having a manicured yard. He spent his mornings watching the birds, and his evenings watching flying squirrels glide from tree to tree. He considered his friends family and their children his to look after. He visited and spent time with them as often as he could. For most of his life, his friends were his closest relationships. He laughed often, flirted too much, and would give others all he had if he felt that it could help them.
He decided to spend his remaining days at home, where he was most at peace. He departed this life on Sunday, February 21st, 2021, at his home in the Dry Creek Community.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents Coonie and Mildred, and his brother, Don “Duck” Christie.
He lived a life that a lot of people would not approve of. He did life his way. Of all the truths that could be said about him, no one could dispute that once he made up his mind, come hell or high water whatever it was would come to pass. He lived a complex, yet simple life. He cried when he was sad. He smiled when he was happy. He was known to have a fit every now and again. He was human. He was flawed. He was unfailingly himself. But most of all, he was loved, and he loved.
