Funeral services for Mary Horn Armstrong will be held on Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Mr. Donald Robinson officiating. She will rest in Cookson-Proctor Cemetery. Online condolences for her family may be left at www.reedculver.com.
Mary Horn Armstrong was born on July 24, 1921 at Chicken Creek Community in Cookson, OK, the daughter of Oscar Frank and Cornelia (Byers) Horn. She was born in the log house her father built for the family of eight brothers and sisters. In 1946, she married Herbert Nail. They made their home in the Tahlequah area where she was a homemaker, and mother to her three daughters, Reba, Lois, and Freeda. She enjoyed visiting with her parents and on most Sundays, she could be found at their home. The marriage dissolved and she married Larry Armstrong in 1980, living with him in Canadian, OK until his death. Mary then moved to Edmond, OK to be near her daughter, Lois, helping to care for her grandchildren. Mary passed from this life on September 10th, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK, after attaining the age of 95 years old.
Mary is preceded in death by her mother, father, all of her siblings, Charlie Horn, Vada Horn, Mae Horn, Earl Horn, Virl Horn, Frances Horn, Lewis Horn and one baby sister.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Reba Grady and husband Gene of Oklahoma City, OK, Lois Hodgson and husband Mike of Edmond, OK, and Freeda Briggs and husband Leland of Ponca City, OK. Her memory lives on in her numerous grand and great grandchildren.
