Martha Ann Murphy was born on March 5th, 1959 in Tahlequah, Ok, the daughter of Ada Geneva (Glory) Bolin and raised by Don Bolin. She grew up in the Tahlequah area and lived here all of her lifetime. Growing up she “ran around” with her Aunt, Ella “Tech” Bolin, and this friendship lasted her lifetime. She graduated from Sequoyah High School and then attended Okmulgee Technical School for Culinary Arts. She loved this job so much she worked as a cook for her entire career, first at Tenkiller Schools and then Cherokee Elder Care. She could bake lighter-than-air cakes, and her sweets were something everyone looked forward to. When she wasn’t working, she was spending time with her nieces, nephews, cousins, and babysitting for everyone. She “raised” a lot of babies, and was a homemaker by choice. She liked being home, watching her soap operas like “General Hospital” and listening to music every chance she got. The coffee pot went on first thing in the morning, rain or shine, summer and winter, and she drank coffee all day long. The holidays were her chance to shine and she loved decorating for the holidays, gathering her family for a day of bingo and games and sharing a meal and memories. As much as she enjoyed her life, she passed from this life on Friday, October 6th, 2023 at her home surrounded by those she loved. She was 64 years old and will be greatly missed.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Timmy Murphy and one sister, Geraldine Murphy.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Jeanine Murphy of Keys, OK. She also leaves four brothers, Gary Murphy and wife Rose of Dry Creek Community, Everett Bolin and wife Caleen of Dry Creek Community, Edward Bolin and companion Stacy of Park Hill, OK, and Gilbert Bolin of the home. She leaves many nieces and nephews, and special great niece Kyrah “Sunshine” Tehee and Jerome “Sweetie” Tsosie, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
