Marilyn Diane Christie was born November 22nd, 1955, exactly 15 minutes ahead of her twin sister, Carolyn. The girls grew up in a family with four brothers, Charlie Christie, Joe “JB” Kelley, John Kelley and Darrell Kelley. Marilyn attended school at Tahlequah and Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah. Following her graduation, she attended Bill Willis School and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was the proud mother of two sons, Jacob and Ryan. They were her pride and joy. She worked all of her adult life in the nursing field, her last position being at Cherokee County Nursing Center. When she wasn’t caring for the patients she loved, she could be found hanging out with her best friend, her sister Carolyn. She also made room for her canine companions, Coco and Charlie Jones. One of her favorite hobbies was going to concerts and she absolutely loved the Pirates of the Mississippi! When she was at home, she was out in the garden, raising the most beautiful vegetables and flowers. She liked to treat her family to her delicious BBQ and her German Chocolate Cake. Amusement parks were a great way to spend the day and it was even better if it included going out to eat afterwards. She was a little bit shy around strangers, and was kind and generous to a fault, but her brave spirit would shine forth anytime she was playing the daredevil. She was strong willed, and had to be in order to survive the ordeals dealt to her in life, but she always came shining through. Quiet days were spent reading romance novels, doing a little sewing or watching her favorite police and detective shows like” CSI” and “Yellowstone”. Her happiest days were when she could gather her children, nieces, nephews, and cousins all together for a fun day of food and fellowship, she adored them all. Marilyn loved life and everything in it, but her health had not been as strong as possible. She passed from this life on April 28th, 2022 at her home in Cookson, OK. She was 66 years old and leaves a chair that can never be filled.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her grandparents, Andy and Pearlie Mae (Bolin) Christie and Joe and Dora Mae Kelley, her mother and father and three brothers, Charlie Christie, JB Kelley, and Darrell Kelley.
Those left to carry on her legacy include her sons, Jacob Christie of Tahlequah and Ryan Christie of the home in Cookson, OK. She leaves her twin, Carolyn Redden of Tailholt, OK, and one brother, John Kelley and wife Brenda of Welling, OK. She leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
