Margaret “Sis” Haggard-Jackson was born on November 20th, 1936 in Pettit, OK, the daughter of Jess and Dolly (Hale) Haggard. She grew up with two brothers, Hal and Earl, and graduated from Tahlequah High School. She met and married her best friend, Lawford “Luke” Jackson on September 20th, 1963 in Stilwell, OK, and they enjoyed 57 years of life’s memories until his passing in 2019. They raised two sons, Bobby James and Tommie Ray. Luke and Sis were happy ranching and working the livestock. She worked hard to make their house a home. She was an accomplished seamstress and could sew anything she needs to make and crafted gorgeous quilts. In the kitchen, you would not be able to find anyone that made a better blueberry cobbler, beans and cornbread, or her light as air biscuits. Her gardening skills were perfected in the beautiful flower beds she raised year after year. She was a feisty little woman who had no problem telling you exactly how she felt, and no problem expressing her own opinions. She was always ready to help Luke with whatever was needed and made sure there was a holiday dinner to enjoy with her family. She was so proud of her grandsons, Bryan and Brandon Qualls, they were like sons to Sis and Luke. She was always happy to see the great grandchildren, Keelea, Kynlea, Paisley and Chanley ever chance she could. She lost both of her sons young in life and Luke in 2019. Her health began to fail and she passed from this life on September 6th, 2020 at her home in Keys, surrounded by those who knew her best. She was 83 years old.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband Luke, both of her boys, Bobby and Tommie, and her two brothers, Hal Haggard and Earl Haggard.
Her survivors include her grandson, Brandon Qualls and Sabrina of Keys, OK, and Bryan Qualls and wife Sasha of Hulbert, OK. She will live on in her great grandchildren, Keelea Qualls, Kynlea Qualls, Paisley Qualls, and Chanley Qualls, a nephew, Bobby Jackson and wife Charlotte of Keys, OK, one great nephew, Austin Jackson of Vinita, OK, as well as many cousins, and loved ones and a very special friend and caregiver, Patty Smith.
