Lydia Maria Wilson was born on September 16th, 1957, in Ft. Smith, AR. She was raised by her parents, Jim and Mary Elk. Alongside her beloved sister, Sharon Biggerstaff Ballentine, Lydia was raised with love, laughter, and an unwavering connection to her family. Her childhood was filled with adventure, as the Biggerstaff family relocated from Oklahoma to California and later to Hawaii, where they lived for 15 years. Eventually, she settled in Fort Gibson, OK.
Music was a constant companion in Lydia’s life, and she never missed an opportunity to dance. She was a free spirit with a deep love for the arts, especially literature, losing herself in science fiction books by Anne Rice and the Twilight series. She could often be found watching cooking shows, experimenting with her own "Lydia Twist" on recipes, notably her famous fried chicken and fry bread, beloved by all who tasted it.
Lydia dedicated herself to her work as a Tile Glaze Light Operator at Dal Tile Manufacturing. Proud of her Cherokee heritage, she valued the time she spent with both her biological and chosen families. She raised four children with husband Scott Hergott of Maui, HI, with unwavering love and devotion: Robert "Bobby" Baker, Shannon Turner, William Hergott, and Daniel Hergott. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she lived her life to make each day special for them.
Christian by faith, Lydia found solace and guidance in her non-denominational beliefs. She studied scripture diligently and trusted in God through all the trials and joys of her life. Though she endured the loss of her grandparents, mother, and father, Lydia remained resilient, bringing joy and light to all those around her.
On August 18th, 2024, in Ft. Gibson, OK, Lydia passed peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her most. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and creativity that will not soon be forgotten.
