Lucille was born on April 6th, 1961 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Tom Welch and Jessie Mae Drywater. She passed from this life into her Eternal Home on Wednesday, January 29th, 2014 in Tahlequah, OK with her loving family close by her side. She was 52 years, 9 months, and 23 days old.
Lucille graduated from Porter High School in 1979. On August 26th, 1983, she married the love of her life, Don Henson in Miami, OK. Together, they blessed with 30 wonderful years of happiness and 4 children. She worked as a Pharmacy technician at WW Hastings Hospital. Lucille was baptized by faith and a member of the Swimmer Baptist Church in Hulbert, OK. She loved her church family and she worshipped her Lord, Jesus Christ faithfully. She upheld the nursery duty of the church, and often stated”the Lord put it upon her to fulfill the position because she had a special place in her heart for the little ones, especially her grandchildren.” She attended church regularly with her grandchildren at her side. There was no way, no how, that the bond between her and her grandchildren could ever be broken. They were the love of her life. Summers were spent on the water camping with her family and cooking for the large crowd of family and friends that that would soon be coming to eat her famous fry bread, crawdad soup, Indian tacos, and her wonderful chicken and dumplings. If Don had his way, a pot of her brown beans were included. Lucille enjoyed fishing, or attending any sporting event that her grandchildren participated in, OU football games were a must and The Thunder basketball was always a good time. She and Don were also known for coaching the little ones from T-Ball to basketball. Hunting crawdads every Wednesday night after church was always on her agenda. Her health began to fail and she retired to her home until her passing. Our loving mother, grandmother, and wife will be sorely missed but will remain in our hearts forever.
Lucille is preceded in death by her son, Tommy Henson, parents Tom Welch and Jessie Mae Cochran, stepfather, Jess Cochran, sister, Nancy Chuculate, grandparents Joe and Lucy Drywater, and brother-in-law, William Chuculate.
