Louis Jacob Trapp was born on February 2nd, 1936 in Los Angeles, Ca, the son of Louis and Minnie Hazel (Lacey) Trapp-Elder. The family resided in Los Angeles, CA, then moved to Tahlequah, OK when Louis was nine years old. Circumstances were not always favorable and Louis stayed with his father until he graduated from Tahlequah High School. He attended Diesel Mechanic school and got his certification in Chicago. Louis became a Machinist, opening the Tahlequah Machine Shop in 1963, located in the old depot in Tahlequah. He married Glynda Coop in Tahlequah, OK on September 14th, 1956, and raised a family of three sons and one daughter, Denise, Conrad, Bobby and Stephen. One hobby made him the happiest, playing all kinds of music, singing and playing his guitar. He played with some of the greats: Bluegrass Music with Bill Monroe, Lester Flatts, The Illinois River Folks, and with Uncle Dick Hutchins. He backed up Jana Jae and appeared in “Where The Red Fern Grows”. Every Tuesday Night, was music night, at his home. He loved being with family at Robbers Cave for Family Reunions. Later on, after the death of his first wife, he met Charline Deloris Patterson while at church. The first time he met her, he said “I’m going to marry her.”, and so he did just that on July 20th, 2014 at the Proctor Baptist Church in Proctor, OK, where he became a member. He was a loving husband, a father and grandfather. His health began to fade and Louis was called home to be with the Lord on March 16th, 2024 at the home of his daughter, Jamie Blessman, surrounded by the family he adored. He was 88 years old and will be greatly missed.
