Linda Sue Woodward was born on April 22, 1949, in Tahlequah, the daughter of Steve and Louise (Adair) Carey. She graduated from Hulbert High School in 1967, and graduated from Virgil’s Cosmetology School in Muskogee.
She married her sweetheart, Dewey Lee Woodward on August 24, 1980, in Tahlequah.
Linda loved the great outdoors. She was happy to spend the day on the water, boating or fishing. She adored her family and spending as much quality time as she could with them, sharing a laugh or chatting the day away. Linda was a gifted cook, she made the best Indian tacos, chicken and dumplings and biscuits and gravy.
Music played an important role in her life; she sang with the Carey Family Singers, and never tired of singing the old gospel favorites.
Linda was simply fun to be around and had energy to spare. She used that energy to care for people around her who needed a helping hand and a friend to turn to. She was generous with her time, her talents, and her smile.
Dewey passed from this life in 2009. Linda filled the void with her children, grandchildren, and large extended family.
The Lord called Linda to her eternal home on Nov. 10, 2011, at her home in Wagoner with her family at her side. She was 62 years old.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dewey; two adopted grandchildren, Kayla Mae Fleak in 2008, and Gage Fleak in 2010; and her sister, Louella Thompson in 1980.
She will be remembered by her loving children, Marvin Morgan and wife Michelle of Wagoner, Stephanie Morgan of Wagoner, Leann Gann and husband William of Wagoner, adopted daughter Kendall Fleak and husband Micah of Muskogee, stepson Brian Woodward of Sulfur, and stepson Jeff Woodward of Little Axe. She leaves behind 12 brothers and sisters, Leon Carey of Marble City, Steve Carey Jr. and wife Bonnie of Haskell, Roy Carey and wife Brenda of Hulbert, Gary Carey and wife Victoria of Wagoner, Jack Carey and wife Pam of Wagoner, Anita Potts and husband Jack of Peggs, Darrell Carey and wife Christina of Tahlequah, Randy Carey and wife Naomi of Hulbert, Floyd Carey and wife Melanie of Wagoner, Louann Bruce and husband Sylvester of Hulbert, Vicki Sissom and husband Wayne of Hulbert, and Phillip Carey and wife Deanna of Wagoner. She also leaves her uncle, Lincoln Adair and wife Lydia of Tahlequah. Linda’s legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Paige Morgan, Kyler Morgan, Tayte Morgan, Landon Gann, and Wyatt Gann; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
