Lauren Elizabeth Ivey-Holt was born on September 21st, 1993, the daughter of Kenneth and Karen (Seekings) Ivey in Lancaster, TX. She grew up in Canton, TX, with one brother, Kevin. She was a gifted student in school, always giving 100% of all of her time and talent, making the Dean’s Honor Roll in two universities and graduating Magna Cum Laude. Lauren was also a very kind, loving and talented daughter, sister, wife and granddaughter. She was never too busy to spend time with her family. She had a soft spot for animals of all varieties, and especially kittens she rescued, giving them the special care they needed to survive. There were no strangers in Lauren’s life, just friends she hadn’t met yet. She had the sweetest smile that lit up any room and made people feel like they had known Lauren all of their lives. On May 7th, 2016, she married the love of her life, Dakota Holt, in Wills Point, TX. They were so very happy and so in love. Lauren worked in Tahlequah, OK as a legal assistant, a job she performed to perfection. The clients entrusted to her care were always treated like no one else mattered but them. Her spare time was spent with her husband and family, enjoying the day and relaxing at Lake Tenkiller. A Christian by faith, Lauren attended the Brookside Baptist Church in Myrtle Springs, TX. It was at Brookside she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. For the many gifts she gave to others in her every day work, she left us all too soon on October 13th, 2016 in an accident. The world is a better place for Lauren’s presence here, and she has left a void in life that can never be filled.
Lauren is preceded in death by grandfather, Cecil Ivey, grandmother, Katherine Seekings, grandfather-in-law, Lyndon Holt, and great grandparents-in-law Carl & Willie Lee Baumgardner.
Those left to cherish Lauren’s memory include her husband, Dakota Holt of Cookson, OK. She leaves her father and mother, Kenneth and Karen Ivey of Kaufman TX, her brother Kevin Ivey of Denton, TX, her father and mother-in-law, Tony and Brenda Holt of Wills Point, TX, brother-in-law Chance Holt of Wills Point, TX, grandmother Lorene “Mamaw” Ivey of Edgewood, TX, and Ronald and the late Katherine Seekings of Canton, TX, grandparents-in-law, Pat and Jimmie Coyle of Yantis, TX, and Sandra Holt of Garland, TX. There are also cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
