Kenneth Charles Johnson was born on February 14th, 1954 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Charlie Percy and Cherrie Imogene (Dumond) Johnson. He was raised with one sister, Jackie Lee Johnson. Kenneth attended elementary schools in Baumholder, Germany on a US Army base, Double Springs community, Lawton and finally Tahlequah, graduating from Tahlequah High School in 1972. Kenneth then attended and graduated from OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, OK, specializing in auto mechanics. After living in Dallas, TX and in Tulsa for a number of years, Kenneth returned to Tahlequah where he eventually took a job at the Water Treatment Plant for 29 years, serving as Plant Superintendent for more than 21 years. Kenneth was of the Christian faith, and an active 32nd Degree Mason and Past Master of Cherokee Masonic Lodge Number 10 in Tahlequah. He was also a member of Kansas Lodge No. 252 in Kansas, OK, Murrow Lodge #49 in Spiro, OK, McAlester Scottish Rite, Muskogee York Rite, and Bedouin Shriners of Muskogee. Kenneth loved his pets and enjoyed owning and driving old cars. He even bought his own hearse and joined the Professional Car Society, a group of people dedicated to the preservation and restoration of old ambulances and funeral cars. Kenneth passed from this life on June 26th, 2024 in Tahlequah, OK. He was 70 years old and will be greatly missed.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his grandparents, and his mother, and father.
Those left to celebrate his life include his son, Matthew Johnson of Spiro, OK, and his sister, Jackie Lee Seals of Porter, OK. He leaves one nephew, Jeffrey Seals and wife Valerie of Las Vegas, NV, and his niece, Jentri Jordan Guinn and husband Timothy of Porter, OK. He also leaves his great nieces and nephews, Kailey Jordan Guinn Carter and husband John of El Reno, OK, Kendall Neilee Guinn of Porter, OK, Karlie Grace Guinn of Porter, OK, Troy Seals , Carissa Seals, Elaina Seals, Alex Seals and Isabella Seals all of Las Vegas, as well as many close Masonic brothers and close friends too numerous to mention.
Funeral services for Kenneth Charles Johnson will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024 at 10:00 AM, at Reed-Culver chapel with Pastor Matthew Wilson officiating. The family will receive guests on Monday, July 1st, 2024 beginning at 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM, with family to receive guest from 5:00pm until 6:00pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Citizens Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, OK.
Pallbearers for Kenneth include Delbert Wilson, Scott Switzer, Leroy Cowart, Darrel Foster, Bob Copeland, and Devon Campbell of the Cherokee Masonic Lodge #10. His honorary pallbearers include Matthew Johnson, Jeffrey Seals, Timothy Guinn, Jentri Guinn, Kailey Guinn Carter, Kendall Neilee Guinn, Karlie Guinn and Jeff Jacobs.
