Katie Almeda Moore

Welling, OK-Funeral services for Katie Almeda Moore will be held on Friday, March 9th, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel. Pastor Jerry Swepston will be officiating with Norman Stephens delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Tahlequah City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 8th, 2012 at Reed-Culver from noon until 8:00 PM. Services have been entrusted to Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah.

Pallbearers for Katie include Norman Stephens, Casey Moore, Roger Arce, Steve Monnot, C.J. Chambers, and Robert Cook. Honorary pallbearers include Carl Cochran, Bill Christie, and Benny Taylor Jr.

Katie Almeda Moore was born on February 23, 1923 in Caney, OK the daughter of Wofford and Lucille (Mauck) Jones. She attended school at Caney, completing the 8th grade. She met and married the love of her life, Wilburn Moore, on May 2nd, 1942 in Caney, OK. This union was blessed with fifty years and three children, one son and two daughters. Katie was a woman of many talents. She was gifted with a needle and did beautiful crocheting, quilting, and a multitude of arts and crafts. She had an eye for photography and was interested in shooting wildlife, mainly flowers and birds. Katie never stood still a minute and could be found helping with livestock, working in the fields or garden, and taking care of her favorite people, her family. Whenever possible, she loved to slip away to her favorite fishing hole for an afternoon of fun in the sun. She adored her children and grandchildren, sharing an afternoon laughing and joking. She had a warm smile and a large, giving heart, a gift she shared when chatting with her friends and neighbors. Wilburn passed from this life in 1992, and Katie continued her life in Welling with Carol until her health began to fail her. A Baptist by faith, Katie was called home from her labors on March 5th, 2012 at Tahlequah, OK. She was 89 years old. Katie will be greatly missed by her many family and friends

Katie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilburn, eight sisters, Leona, Mary, Loretta, Imogene, Lula, Billie, Thelma, Velma and two brothers, Ralph and Sherman Jones.

Katie’s memory will be treasured by her surviving children, Dale Moore and wife Ruby of Springdale, AR, Almeda Dettre and husband Tom of Corpus Christi, TX, and Carol Cook and husband Robert of Welling,OK. Katie is survived by her sister, Retha Jordan of Sand Springs,OK. Her legacy lives on in her six grandchildren, Casey Moore and wife Whitney of Springdale, AR, Katie Moore of Lowell, AR, Roger Arce of Corpus Christie, TX, Michelle Crummett and husband Ron of Itaska, TX, Robin Monnet and husband Steve of Bixby, OK, and Regina Stephens and husband Norman of Coweta, OK. Her great grandchildren include Caden, Hunter, Ella, C.J., Marissa, Matthew, and Misti, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
