Katherine LaVerne Jackson

Hulbert, OK- Katherine LuVern (Carr) Jackson has passed from this life on January 12th, 2014 in Tahlequah, OK with her family by her side. She was born in Bristow, OK in Creek County, the daughter of Wesley J. and Rachel (Chandler) Carr. When she was around three years old, her parents moved the family to Phoenix, AZ and later to Salinas, CA. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Clifton Howard Jackson. This union was blessed with six children and forty five years of happiness. Katherine returned to the Hulbert area in 1983, where she worked at Midwestern Industries as a machine operator for 12 years. Katherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She adored her kids and kept up with their activities and friends. She was a quiet, private person, with an incredible strong will, and enjoyed a good political discussion every chance she got, she loved Jesus Christ our Lord. After her husband’s passing in 1998, she devoted her time to being a full time “Granny” in the Head Start Program of Hulbert and Tahlequah,OK. She marveled at the children’s creativeness when working with them, a job she enjoyed for over ten years. She was an accomplished cook and made wonderful enchiladas and the best chicken fried steak! She loved to watch her grandchildren in any sporting competition from football to any other endeavor they tried. She grew weary and tired and the Lord took Katherine home from her earthly labors at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 10 days. She will be missed by her loving family and her many friends, as well as the many children who knew her as Granny.

Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Tammie Lea Anderson and her husband Michael Anderson, son Clifton Duane Jackson and one granddaughter, Alecia Meadows.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Karen Bryan and husband Patrick of Hulbert, Sharon Jackson , Belinda Adams and husband Joe of Ottawa, IL, and Christine Jackson of Rockmart, GA. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Michael Bryan and wife Susan, Steve Bryan and wife Heather, Jeffery Joseph and wife Dianna, Andy Boucher, Shannon Meadows, Vincent Marez, Jimmy Jackson, and granddaughters, Shawna Spann and husband Christopher, Rebecca Meadows, great grandchildern Chelsea Bryan, Vinny Marez, Joey Marez, Nicholas Marez, Analicia Olquin,Codie Joseph, Caleb Joseph, Parker Bryan, great great grandchildern Elija Meadows-Bryan, one sister Charlotte Charles and husband Wayne of Glenpool as well as many nieces, nephews, cousin and a host of friends and loved ones.
