Julia Vee (Green) Clay began her journey in life on March 10th, 1933 in the Barber community, the daughter of Robert Lee and Viola (Cole) Green. Julia was one of eight children, having three brothers and four sisters. On January 23rd, 1948, she married her soulmate and help mate, James Andrew Clay Jr. or “June” as she lovingly knew him. Together they shared over 62 years of memories and were blessed with eight children. Julia possessed a servant’s heart that was truly a God-given gift and would use it to serve others throughout her life. An amazing seamstress, she worked many years for a sewing company, crafting lovely dresses for babies before she started a career in Home Health. As time went on, she would bring that same love and care to her family as a homemaker and took such pride in tending to their every need. She was faithful to care for her siblings as they got older and was very close to her son, Robert that lived next door to her. She was an amazing cook and could make Spanish rice and brown beans like no other, not to mention her orange ice box cake and holiday fixings, to just name a few. Julia’s door was always open and made sure no one went hungry. She cherished the company of her family and gathering for the holidays. No matter what she was cooking up, she could be found with her infamous Pepsi in hand and little sidekick, baby by her side. Her focus was continually on others, never herself. She was loving, compassionate and cherished her family, especially her grandbabies. Julia was called from her labors on May 25th, 2023 at the age of 90 years old. She had such a big heart that will truly leave a legacy that will never be forgotten.
