Jimmie Loyd Duvall was born on December 11th, 1924 in Lost City, OK, the son of William Colum and Deliah (Cole) Duvall. He attended school at Bug Scuffle and Lost City and Baggley High School. He went to California working in the ship yards during WWII and also worked in the fields bringing in the crops. He then worked at Gulf Stream making airplanes and built the Aero Commander plane as his first plane. He would later retire as an Inspector for Gulf Stream/Lockheed Aviation International. Jimmie was known for his flower gardens. He has been awarded Yard Of The Month three times since 2001. He loved roses, zennias, periwinkles, and cannas. He loved being out doors and working in the yard. He enjoyed leisurely rides in the country, and gathering with the family to share a meal and spend the afternoon talking. He liked time spent in the chair with his canine companion “Buzzy”. There was nothing better than a day spent fishing or a cup of coffee with a friend. He enjoyed traveling to Eureka Springs, AR and Branson, MO to see a show or ride the trolley. A Christian by faith, he attended Northside Baptist Church. He shared his love of the Lord by bringing his guitar and singing the old time Gospel favorites of his youth on Sunday mornings. He loved his church family dearly. On November 2nd, 1990, he married the love of his life, Linda Kay Bales in Bentonville, AR. They enjoyed 24 years of happiness and memories. Jimmie was happy and loved people. He was able to enter a room and make friends instantly. He retired and went to work for Cherokee Nation doing maintenance, carpentry, and anything else that needed fixing. He was the father of three children, Tommy, Larry, and Sherry and had three step children he enjoyed time with. He always took interest in their activities and enjoyed anytime spent with them. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were a great source of pride. Any chance to say hi and share a cup of coffee with members of his church was special for Jimmie. Jimmies health began to fail him in 2009 and Jimmie retired to his home to enjoy the remainder of his days. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home on April 27th, 2014 at his home in Tahlequah, OK. He was 89 years old. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lillie Duvall, sister Pearl Wing, brother Fred Duvall, sister Frona Duvall, brother Edgar Duvall, brother Floyd Duvall, and sister Florence Rhodes. He lost his son, Bill Ray Duvall in 2003.
