Tahlequah, OK- Funeral services for Jerry Wayne “Beef” Batt will be held on Friday, September 26th, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Reverend Don Ade officiating. Visitation for Jerry will be on Thursday, September 25th, 2014 from 10:00AM until 6:00 Pm at the Reed-Culver Chapel. Interment will be held at Swimmer Cemetery. Jerry Wayne Batt, or “Beef” as his family lovingly called him, was born on March 8th, 1961 in Tahlequah, OK the son of Richard Lee and Josephine (Bendabout) Batt. He was raised in the home with nine brothers and sisters. Jerry attended Oaks High School. Jerry worked as a laborer at various jobs over the years. The best part about Jerry was everyone knew and liked Jerry. Jerry made the rounds in Tahlequah and surrounding areas and he knew and loved everybody! He always had a big grin that spoke of the mischievous boy inside. He was content with life and people just the way he found them, no changes necessary. Rain or shine, summer or winter, Jerry would go around town just stopping by to say hi, sharing a cup of coffee and then moving on. He adored his family and always found a way to keep in touch. He was fiercely proud of his heritage and made an effort to attend all the functions of the Cherokee Nation. A Christian by faith, Jerry attended various Baptist churches. The streets of Tahlequah were quiet, September 22nd, 2014 when Jerry went to his eternal home, probably visiting and making the rounds with all the loved ones there. He will be greatly missed for his friendship.

Jerry is preceded in death by his mother and father, one sister, Laura Batt-Gooley in 2012, a brother, Jeff Batt in 2013, and his grandparents, James and Maggie Batt.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Myra Rice of South Dakota, and seven brothers and sisters, Florene Batt of Tahlequah, Charley Batt and wife Irene Enlow of Tahlequah, OK, Mark Batt and wife Mary of Sallisaw, OK, Johhny Batt of Arkhoma, OK, Larry Batt and wife Linda of Huntington, AR, Tammy McGuire and husband Bud of Arkhoma, OK, and Maggie Batt of Stilwell, OK. He will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
