Funeral services for Harvey Washington Rose will be held on Wednesday, August 12th, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Pastor Rex Hendrickson officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11th, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Interment will follow at Ross Cemetery in Park Hill, OK. Pallbearers for Harvey include Darrell Hendrickson, Dustin Adair, David Adair, Davin Jorgensen, Leon Wilson, and Roger Fine. Honorary pallbearers include Virgil Rose, Jimmy Rose, Jerry Rose, and Jake Rose.
Harvey Washington Rose was born on February 6th, 1929, in Stilwell, OK, the second son of Clarence and Pearlie (Hammons) Rose. He joined a large family of seven brothers and six sisters. Harvey moved to California and worked as a ranch hand. He first married Bobbie Ruth and with that union they were blessed with four boys and 2 girls. While he was in California, he met and married his 2nd wife, Shirley Harrell, on January 15th, 1965 in Oakdale, CA. This union was blessed with one son and three daughters, and fifty years of love and family. The family returned to the Tahlequah and the Peggs area. Harvey worked at NSU as a custodian. He enjoyed the atmosphere and all the young people he met daily. Harvey was a trader by nature, he would trade anything from cars to cattle. Fishing was a favorite hobby, setting trot lines, and hunting deer every chance he got. He always raised a garden and tomatoes were his favorite crop, although he raised cattle, goats, and horses. He had a will of iron and was stubborn and independent. His grandchildren were the apples of his eye and he cherished any chance to gather with his family to share a holiday. He made an effort to go hear his granddaughters singing in the choir, and was always ready to visit with his grandkids. Harvey passed from this life on Friday, August 7th, 2015 in Tahlequah, OK with his family close by his side. Harvey was 86 years old.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Debra Ann Rose in 1959, three brothers, Arley Rose, Troy Rose, Edward Rose, and four sisters, Oma Booth, Leona Gonzales, Betty Davis, and Clovia Collins. He is joined by a granddaughter, Kara Lynn Fanning.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Shirley of the home, and his children, Harvey Rose Jr., Jerry Rose, and Ronnie Rose all of Modesto, CA, Judy Betz of California, Larry Rose of Peggs, OK, Robin Rose of Tahlequah, OK, Tana Hendrickson and husband Darrell of Peggs, OK, Tina Medlock of Tahlequah, OK, and John Rose and wife Dawn also of Tahlequah, OK. There are a large number grandchildren and great grandchildren to remember Harvey, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
