Funeral Services for Gloria Gene Simmons will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:30 Am at the Reed~Culver funeral chapel with Pastor Dale Wilson officiating. Interment will foll be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at cedar tree Cemetery. Gloria Gene was born on December 27, 1940 in Nowata County, Ok the daughter of William Victor and Goldie Ula (Adamson) Coker. Genie , as she was known to friends and family, was an exceptionally talented woman. she was gifted in the Indian arts and made beautiful dream catchers, bead work, feather art, and art in bone. She etched glass and had recently completed a lion. She was quiet and enjoyed time spent with her art and nature. An afternoon spent with a good book was always welcome. She loved her children and family dearly. A Baptist by faith, she attended the Cherokee Baptist Association. Her smile and beautiful art will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The lord called Genie to her eternal home on August 19, 2010 in Tahlequah. She was 69 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Kenneth Coker and one son, Edward Simmons. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons and daughter, Michael and Mitchell Niedens and Michelle. She will be missed by her three sisters, Lula Rose and Walter Straub of Great Bend, KS, Delores Rous of Great Bend, KS, and Shirley Foos of Tahlequah. Her legacy lives on in her five grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and loved ones.
