Donald Aaron Coffee, or “Big D” as he was affectionately known, was born on February 22, 1989, in Claremore, OK, the son of Steven Russell Coffee and Lori Joelle Settlemyre. He grew up in the Oaks and Tulsa areas, surrounded by community and family.Big D attended grade school at Mosley and high school in Colcord, OK. During his school years, he developed a passion for football and music, especially playing the guitar.At the age of 16, Big D met the love of his life, Brandy Sands, and it was love at first sight. Their bond grew into a lifelong love that endured until his passing. He worked in construction, a job he genuinely enjoyed. He brought joy to every workplace, turning hard work into fun with his lighthearted teasing and humor.Big D was a generous soul, known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need. He would offer comforting words, a warm hug, or even his last dollar to someone struggling. His love for cooking was well-known; he made the best chicken and steak, always eager to bring people together over a good meal.His laughter was contagious, and humor was his specialty. Few people could brighten a room the way he could. His greatest joy, however, was being the proud Papa of Cash Benjamin Bain Coffee. The bond between father and son was unbreakable, filled with laughter, wrestling, and precious moments of play.To those who knew him, Big D was a true friend, an unwavering ally, and a caring soul who prioritized the well-being of others. Despite his many dreams and plans for the future, he left this world too soon on March 16, 2025, at his home in Westville, OK. He was 36 years old.
He has gone home to join his mother, Lori, and his sister, Amber Lay.
Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife, Brandy Sands, of the home in Westville, and his beloved son, Cash, also of the home. He is survived by his father, Steven Russell Coffee of the home; his brother, Jamie Settlemyre, and wife Nikki of Siloam Springs, AR; and his sister-in-law, Gabby Sands of Stilwell, OK.He also leaves behind many cherished nephews, nieces, and best friends, including Bon Settlemyre of Kansas, OK; Skyler Settlemyre and wife Jazmine of Siloam Springs, AR; Drew Marsh and wife Tiana of Watts, OK; Nick Holland of Westville, OK; and Isaac Ward of Siloam Springs, AR; Kayleene Harjo “ Sugar Momma” of Westville, OK.
Big D will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him. His light, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Funeral services for Donald Aaron Coffee, known affectionately as “Big D”, will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel, officiated by Brother Lance Beller. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.reedculver.com.
