Donald Ray Ballard was born March 7th, 1947 in Hugo, OK to Jack and Loretta Ballard. Donald spent days growing up like any true Oklahoman, hunting and fishing. He was a graduate of Vian High School and later took a few college courses to further his education. Donald met the love of his life, Anna Marie Grass and began a beautiful family. Donald and Anna were blessed with five sons, Damon, Don Allen, Douglas, Daniel, and Dana. Donald spent three tours in Vietnam, serving our country in the United States Marine Corps.
Donald enjoyed spending time in his garden tending his plants. As an adult, he continued to enjoy the peace he found while fishing and hunting. Donald was a loving and devoted family man, but loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren the most. The only thing that may rival his love for his family is the love he had for his dogs, Dee and Dolly, who he treasured and spoiled as well. Donald passed away September 9th, 2018 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 71. His legacy will live on through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for years to come.
Donald is preceded in death by both of his parents and one son, Damon Ballard and his brother Robert Glen Bennett.
Donald is survived by his wife, Anna, of the home, four sons, Don Allen Ballard of Holdenville, OK, Douglas Ballard of Albuquerque, NM, Daniel Ballard of Oaks, OK and Dana P. Ballard of Lorain, OH, and his two sisters, Martha Pope of Muskogee, OK and Carolyn Couch of Vian, OK. Among those being left behind are also numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a host of loving friends.
