Donald William French was born on August 10th, 1964 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Nick and Rosie Lee (Beamer) French. He was raised with four sisters, Linda, Velma, Evelyn, and Louise. He grew up in the Oaks area, and attended school in Oaks. He was always playing baseball, or going to the creek fishing. He loved to go camping with his family or friends. Upon graduating from school, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served until he was honorably discharged. He lived for a while in Vian and then relocated to the Tahlequah area, and eventually Ft. Gibson where he worked as a construction worker. He also worked at area nurseries and at the chicken houses. When he wasn’t working, he was hunting deer and quail, or fishing. He was an avid football fan and was a big fan of the Detroit Lions, his favorite team. He could really tell some good stories and loved gathering with friends to shoot the breeze. He was fun and easy going with a great sense of humor, yet he had no problem telling you exactly how he felt. Relaxing at home with his family was one of his greatest pleasures in life. He loved people and it showed. A Christian by faith, he attended the First Freewill Baptist Church of Ft. Gibson. Life wasn’t always easy for Don, yet he always tried for a new day. The Lord called this hard working man home from his labors on May 28th, 2023 in Tahlequah, OK. He was 58 years, 9 months, and 18 days, and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by grandparents Thomas Weeley and wife Lizzie (Doctor) Weeley, his mother and father, stepfather Jack Eli Nofire, and his sister, Louise French Meyers.
Those left to celebrate his life include two children, Aaron French and Brandie French both of Vian, OK, and three sisters, Linda Coffee of Claremore, OK, Velma Chaffin of Texarkana , TX, and Evelyn Taylor and husband Rick of Ft. Gibson, OK as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friend and loved ones too numerous to mention.
