Dewey D. Vaughn

Dewey Dean Vaughn of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on March 17, 2024, at the age of 70 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on October 22, 1953 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Dewey was a one-of-a-kind man who cherished his family above all else. He adored his grandchildren and children, with a special love for the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. Woodworking was a passion of Dewey's and he was known for crafting everything but particularly wooden rocking chairs for his beloved grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly “Sue” Terry Vaughn, parents, John Alvin and Wilma Ruth Vaughn, grandparents, Dewey Vaughn, whom he was named after, Berneice Vaughn, Louis Elmer and Ruffie Farmer, and great-grandson, Remington Vaughn.

He is survived by his children, Deana Vaughn, Trina Hooks, Melinda Fairchild, Tommy LeMasters, and their spouses, grandchildren, Chelsea Gibbons and husband Josh, Trenton Vaughn and wife Krista, Chase, Tanner and Tenlee Vaughn, Cody, Lacee and Randy Fairchild, Dillon Lemasters and wife Kristen, Bailey Young husband Ryan, Madison Lemasters. Dewey's legacy lives on through his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dewey worked cutting wood in his younger years before embarking on a 36-year career at Prestolite only because his mother-in-law filled out his application for him. He enjoyed various hobbies such as hunting, fishing, woodworking and volunteering for food donations in Cherokee County.

Rest in peace, Dewey. Your memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved you.

A visitation for Dewey will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Funeral services for Dewey Dean Vaughn will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 10:00 am at Reed-Culver in Tahlequah, Oklahoma with Pastor Sam Keener officiating. Burial will follow at Tahlequah City Cemetery. There will be a lunch reception following services at the First Baptist Church of Hulbert.

Serving as pallbearers are Trenton Vaughn, Chase Vaughn, Tanner Vaughn, Dillon Lemasters, Cody Fairchild and Mac Davis. Honorary pallbearers include Ace Hooks, Kota Hooks, Ty McNatt, Billy Soban and Kyle McNatt.
