Denver Lee Allen came into this world on April 6th, 1943, the son of Frank and Lillie (Foster) Allen in Peggs, OK. He was raised in a household with three brothers and three sisters, Lawton, Forrest, Gene Dale, Linda, Judy, and Pamela Maxine, who died early in childhood. He attended school in Hulbert and then decided to try his hand at working as an iron worker. He worked as an iron worker at OG&E, Georgia Pacific Paper, and Ford Glass Company to name a few. On September 27th, 1967, he married Helen Ann Hull at the Salvation Army Church in Muskogee, OK. They shared a lot of life’s memories, working side by side for years and raising their son, Leslie Allen. Denver loved hunting deer and fishing. Dirt track car races were also a favorite pastime. He was good at gardening and could raise the best tomatoes ever, and he always shared with everyone around him. He was down to earth, what you saw was what you got. Loved children and always made sure he had a packet of gum to give to them. He always made time to stop and talk to everyone he met on the street. A Christian by faith, he attended both the Salvation Army Church in Muskogee and the First Baptist Church of Ft. Gibson, where you were sure to get a friendly greeting from Denver. He cherished his family, and loved spending time with his wife, son and especially his grandchildren, Cara and Jacob. After living many years in Keefton, they moved to Fort Gibson to be closer to his children for their company, he never tired of them. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from his labors on November 23rd, 2020 in Muskogee, OK at the age of 77 years old. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Ann Hull-Allen, his grandparents, Thomas and Sara (Ward) Allen and Frank and Lucy (Downing) Foster. He also joins his mother, father, brothers Lawton Allen, Forrest “Tooter” Allen and sisters Pamela Maxine Allen and Linda Bendabout.
Those left to remember Denver’s life include his son, Leslie Allen and wife Netta of Ft. Gibson, OK, and his brother, Gene Dale Allen of Hulbert, OK, and one sister, Judy Robison and husband Jim of Tahlequah, OK and sister-in-law Thelma Foster. He lives on in his grandchildren, Cara Beth Allen of Ft. Gibson, OK, and Jacob Wayne Allen also of Ft. Gibson. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of church family and loved ones he has met along life’s way.
