Connie "Con Con" Sue Calico, a vibrant and loving mother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 16, 2025, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Born on February 20, 1952, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Henry Dee Calico and Juanita (Isaac) Calico, Connie grew up in the Tahlequah area, surrounded by family and community.
Connie's life was filled with joy, laughter, and adventure. In her younger years, she was a fiery and fashionable woman who loved to dance with her sister, Tonya, and play pool. She was known for her impressive skills on the pool table, often running the table in her high heels. Her love for fashion was evident in her extensive collection of high-heeled shoes, and she enjoyed collecting knick-knacks and Betty Boop memorabilia.
As a licensed cosmetologist, Connie opened her own beauty shop, where she shared her creativity and warmth with clients. She took great pride in her work and loved making people feel beautiful. In her free time, Connie enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping. She was also an avid fan of classic TV shows like "I Love Lucy" and "The Andy Griffith Show."
Connie's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She cherished vacations with her son, Ralph, including a memorable trip to Mount Rushmore, which remains one of his fondest memories of their time together. Her love for entertaining and feeding people was legendary, and she always had a get-together or celebration on the horizon. Whether it was cooking, quilting, or sewing, Connie loved sharing her creativity with others.
Holidays were a special time for Connie, and she looked forward to Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the Fourth of July. She loved cooking and baking with her mother and later with her family, creating delicious pies and dishes that brought everyone together. Floating the river was another favorite pastime, and Connie enjoyed the peacefulness of being on the water.
Above all, Connie cherished her one and only son, Ralph, more than anything in the world. She was also very close to her sister, Tonya, who cared for her tenderly toward the end of her life. Connie's family was her rock, and she loved them with all her heart.
