Christie Renae (Moore) Kinder was born June 4th, 1964 to Kenneth Lee Welch and Barbara Allen Welch. Christie started her life in Rhode Island, but ended up in Lost City, OK, with her brothers and sister by her side. Her sister Jackie was already out of the house, so she was left with her brothers to fight with constantly. She whopped up on them often. Others always picked on them for being poor. They often had clothes with holes in them, before it was popular to have holes. They taught her to be strong. She once told her story how they went down a hill in a tire; she had a blast. She attended and graduated from Lost City School where she thrived at basketball from there, went on to Hulbert High School. She then got pregnant with her daughter Marice and dropped out of school. Several years later, she did get her GED and attended Bacone College, where she obtained a degree in administration. She worked as a secretary for many years. Christie strived to make a life for her and her daughter, Marice. Christie enjoyed watching and coaching her daughter in basketball as well. Her daughter once told her mom that she could pick her mom's voice out of the crowd when she played basketball. Marice’s basketball coach, Mr. Morrison, often got mad because she listened to her mom more than her coach. One story her daughter tells is when Christie came to a game with no teeth after getting her teeth pulled. Marice was so embarrassed by that but it became something they laughed about together later in life. There is another story where she stole her brothers car, but that’s a story for another time. When Covid hit in 2020, she became very close to her daughter and son in law, Jason and her grandkids. The world shut down and we spent a lot of time together. Unfortunately during the last year of her life, she became extremely sick and we knew we didn't have a lot of time. Even then Christie kept on being funny and witty, and she often had good come backs for her daughter. My mom and I became very close and she was my best friend - I think in the end I told her everything I ever did in my life. I’m very thankful I shared these things with her, even if it was disappointing to hear. She ended up living the remainder of her life in Vinita, OK with her family by her side and she was loved dearly by her daughter and son-in-law’s family. She passed from this life on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024 in Fort Gibson, OK, and she will be dearly missed.
Christie is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Welch, her mother, Barbara Welch, her daughter Sasha Lashelle Moore, her sister Jackie Langston and her brothers Clifton Moore, William Moore, and Shawn Moore; and a niece Kaca Langston and nephew Brandy Medrano.
