Carissa Ann Taylor-Dobson was born on November 11th, 1977, in Tahlequah, Ok, the daughter of Claude and Cordia Bell (Sparks) Barnes-Taylor. She grew up with one brother and two sisters, Corey Alan, Claudia Elizabeth and Tracy Lynn, attended school, receiving her GED and then began her studies at OSU, studying to obtain her Dieticians Degree. She raised a family of three children, Jack “Jay” William, Benjamin Alan, and Jacklyn Marie. She absolutely adored her family and her children were everything to her. There was nothing she enjoyed more than time spent with family, getting ready for a warm summers day at the creek, doing a little fishing and swimming. If there was a little country music playing while the grill was getting ready, all the better! She also enjoyed cooking for her family, she was great with her meatloaf, pasta salad, lunch wraps and her signature pumpkin roll! She was proud of her Cherokee Heritage, and she did beading and other forms of crafting as well. She worked as a Health Care Provider, and provided the best loving care to those in need, always going the extra mile to make their day better, putting their needs ahead of hers, always. She was always ready to take care of her grandson, Jace, her pride and joy, always keeping her company. The road wasn’t always easy for Carissa, and she had her heart broken with the unexpected passing of her daughter, Jacklyn. Her health faded and she passed from this life on April 5th, 2021 in Tulsa, OK, surrounded by those who knew and loved her. She was 43 years old. She leaves an empty space at the table that no one can ever fill.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Major Sparks and Lucinda Stanely and her paternal grandparents, Leo and Louise Taylor, father, Claude Taylor, her beloved daughter, Jacklyn Dobson, two uncles, Calvin Ullrich and Perry Cain and her aunt, Dianne Jones.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Jack William Dobson Jr and Benjamin Alan Lee Dobson both of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves behind the father of her children, Jack “JW” Dobson Sr. of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves her brother and sisters, Corey Taylor and companion Nikky of Tahlequah, OK, Claudia Taylor and Tray Pennington and husband Jonathan all of Tahlequah. She leaves four uncles and four aunts, David Taylor and wife Denise of Tahlequah, Uncle Clyde Ballard and wife Donna of Westville, Uncle Jeff Sparks and wife Robbie of Tahlequah, Ronnie Stanley of Tahlequah, Marietta Ullrich of Tahlequah, Peggy Stepp of Tahlequah, Major Ousley of Tahlequah, and Jennifer Mitchell and husband Tony of Cassville, MO. She leaves four nieces, Kallie Quick and husband Thomas of Whitefield, OK, Hope Marie Taylor of Tahlequah, Doris Taylor of Tahlequah, and Sonya Gray and companion, Rayne Bailey all of Tahlequah. There are two great nieces and one great nephew, Isabella Lowrey and Aliyah Taylor of Tahlequah and Kash Quick of Whitefield, OK. She will live on in her grandson, Jace Keys of Tahlequah, OK, as well as many cousins and friends and many loved ones, too numerous to mention.
