Brian Floyd Catcher was born on July 1st, 1974 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Mable Ann Brian. He grew up in a loving household with four brothers and two sisters, Robert Eugene, Rick, Charlie, Tim, Louise and Teresa. He had a dream of serving the people of the Cherokee Nation and his community through offering his time and talents in Law Enforcement. He was so proud of the Cherokee Nation and he felt that the Marshal Service was where he could do the most good for the most people in need of his care. He took his job seriously, and faithfully performed his duties day in and day out, never complaining but always willing to go the extra mile. On November 1st, 2008, he married the love of his life and the woman that always stood by his side, Randy Jo Pigeon. Together they raised a family of one son and one daughter, Jacob Brian and Katie LeeAnn. Brian was so proud of his wife and children, he always let them know he supported them in whatever they wanted to do in life. Brian was a man who had a wide variety of interests in life, including deer hunting, RV camping (glamping) especially at Sequoyah State Park, and taking the family to Gulf Shores to run in the sand and swim in the ocean. He had a quiet personality, but let him get to know you, and the ornery side peeked through. He could tease and joke with the best of them. He thought the world of all his fellow officers and treated them like the brothers they were to him. He was wise and compassionate, yet knew when strength was needed. He never backed down from a fight, and that included the war cancer waged on him. He met it head on and fought it on his own terms. For all the memories he looked forward to making with his life, he passed from this world on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at his home, surrounded by the family and friends he loved and respected. He was 48 years old and leaves a legacy that will not be forgotten.
Brian is preceded in death by his mother, Mable Ann Brian, a brother Robert Eugene Catcher and two canine companions Dakoda and Police K-9 Partner, Runa.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Randy of the home and their children, Jacob Brian Catcher and Katie LeeAnn Catcher. He leaves his brothers and sisters, Rick Catcher and wife Landa of Rose, OK, Charlie Catcher and wife Robin of Lost City, OK, Tim Catcher and wife Lisa of Jay, OK, Louise King and husband Terry of Ft. Gibson, OK, Teresa Ballard of Tahlequah, sisters-in-law, Callie Catcher of Park Hill, OK and Jennifer Pigeon of Tahlequah, OK, and mother-in-law, Janelle Smith of Tahlequah, OK. He leaves three very special canine companions, Buddy, Bison and Bandit and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. There are also many “brothers and sisters in blue” that he has worked alongside these past 25 years, and many friends and loved ones.
The family would like to take this moment to thank Dr. Pollock and Dr. Willison, as well as the many professionals at Gentiva Hospice for all the care given to Brian. You are all so very appreciated.
