Billy David Ellis was born on June 20th, 1955 in Salina, KS, the son of Billy Gene and Bonnie Louise (Thomas) Ellis. He grew up with two brothers and three sisters, Gary, Dana, Jeanie, Karen and Althea. David graduated from Del Norte High School in Albuquerque, NM, where he found his passion for sports, like wrestling, playing football, and ran for the track team. He was proud of his time as an Eagle Scout where he learned about leadership and supporting your fellow man. After high school, he went on to get his Associate Degree from the University of New Mexico. For David, taking time to enjoy life was important. The simplest memories were the biggest ones to him, like going on trips finding roads less traveled and jamming out to his favorite bands; Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, or cooking his famous enchilada casserole. One of his favorite pass times was having a nice, relaxing day fishing with his younger brother. They’ve always joked about how “no fish was safe on the 4th of July”. His love for his family and pets are beyond words. With a house full, with two granddaughters, a great-granddaughter, four dogs, three cats, and two birds, he was surrounded with love and surely tons of “accidents”. David worked for Facet Oklahoma LLC, where he was a supervisor for over 23 dedicated years. He was deeply loved and respected by his co-workers and they would jokingly call him “Boss Man” from time to time. Anyone who had the chance to be in his life could tell you a thousand stories about him. On November 18th, 1995 in Stilwell, OK, he married the love of his life Maxine Flute and they were blessed with 24 years of marriage until her passing in 2015. On June 2nd, 2019, David passed away to be with his beloved wife and family that has gone on before. He will forever be loved by his family, friends, and co-workers. He was 63 years old.
He is preceded in death by his wife, father and mother.
He is survived by his brothers, Gary Lee Ellis of Gentry, AR and Dana Joe Ellis of Topeka, KS, sisters, Jeanie Lou Roten and husband Gary Wayne of Topeka, KS, Karen Sue Grigg and husband Barney G.
