Beverly A. Shrum

Funeral services for Beverly Annette Spangler-Shrum will be held on Friday, May 15th, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Molly Fields Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK with Pastor James Ogle officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14th, 2015 at Reed-Culver Chapel from noon until 6:00 PM. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.reedculver.com.

Beverly Annette Spangler Shrum was born on November 25th, 1937 in Shawnee, OK, the daughter of Carl and Lula (Freeman) Spangler. Beverly joined her siblings, Carl and Carla. She attended and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1955. Beverly decided on a career in Education. She attended and graduated from OSU in 1959. She moved to Depew, OK and began teaching there, a career that she worked at for the next twelve years. On August 11th, 1966, she married her best friend in life, Donal Dean Shrum. Together they raised their son, James, and enjoyed 48 years together. Beverly and Donal moved to Seneca, MO, where Beverly continued teaching until 1974. At this time, Beverly and Donal decided to move to Moody, OK and began farming. Beverly and Donal loved the country life. Beverly enjoyed being out doors and had a soft spot in her heart for animals. She had numerous canine companions and the occasional cat or two. Beverly was a wonderful wife, mother, teacher, friend and neighbor. She had a big heart and loved people. She liked to make special little things and give them to people, just a little “thinking of you gift”. You could always be sure of her smile, and her warmth. She had a way of making you feel like family. She enjoyed watching OSU sports, and cheered for her alma mater whenever she got the chance. She never tired of the peace and tranquility of life in Moody. Her health began to fail her and she spent more time at home, surrounded by her family and her animal friends. Beverly went home to her Eternal rest on May 12th, 2015 at her home with her loved ones by her side. She was 78 years old. She will be greatly missed for all the warmth and compassion she showed every day of her life.

Beverly is preceded in death by her mother, father, and her brother, Carl Spangler.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Donal Shrum of their home in Moody, her son, James of Tahlequah, OK, one sister, Carla Geirhart of Shawnee, OK, and one niece, five nephews, as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
