They enjoyed 26 years and raised one son and one daughter together. They moved to the Henryetta area, working there from 1950 until 1969.They would later be transferred to Tahlequah, OK, as Charles was promoted to Wire Chief. While living in Henryetta, Betty kept busy, sewing, she made all the formal gowns for her daughter in Rainbow Girls, prom, and all special events. She delighted her family with her cooking, and was an accomplished chef. There was nothing to compare to a holiday dinner at Betty’s house. She made the best turkey, corn casserole, the best breads and desserts ever. She always had a stack of new recipes that she couldn’t wait to try. Betty liked to entertain, and was an avid bridge player. Her beloved Charles passed in 1973. Betty would meet and marry James D. “JD” Johnson in 1978. She was funny and great to spend the afternoon with. She loved her children, grand, great and great great grandchildren. The holidays were her favorite time to gather them in and share a meal and the day. JD passed in 2008 and Betty remained in her home until her health began to fail her.
